At my company we have quite a few 'communal' mailboxes. Everyone has their personal email box, but we have boxes like 'contactus' that multiple people put on their outlook and work on together.

For these aforementioned boxes I would like to set up an auto reply message but do not know how. If it were a personal mailbox I would just make an outlook rule and that would run server side...but I don't think I can make a server side rule like that from an outlook that is not set up with that mailbox as the primary.

Do you guys have any input?

I'm assuming you mean Exchange 2007? :p

There may be a way to "cheat" which would involve opening the mailbox in OWA or something and setting the auto-reply from there.

no, if its exchange 07 just use a mail transport rule to do it from the exchange console

I just looked through the mail transport rules.

1. Sent to people - people=mailbox
2. Nothing in this step that would allow me to autoreply with a message.

I don't see how I can use Mail Transport Rules to do this.

...Our webmail is having an issue right now so I can't do it that way either.
