EVGA 6800GT worth getting?

I'm looking for a new card and was wondering if this is any good. I certainly like the price on newegg: $385

I don't know anything about EVGA and its a huge hassle trying to RMA defective products to newegg if you live in Canada. (I have to have them shipped to my cousin in Washington and then shipped to Ottawa) Also, I don't intend to overclock or anything like that.
 
Well, IMO, eVGA is a good brand. My 6800 has been rock solid...I also have an eVGA Geforce 2 GTS that's still running strong after all this time. There is always a risk involved, nothing is failsafe or foolproof. But I think eVGA is safer than most brands...and make sure you get the free watch with your card :)
 
2 week old eVGA and not a single problem. Overclocking well and will do even better when I get a NV5 attached to it. Worth the credit card charge for sure ;)
 
Im not knocking eVGA or anything but I think i should tell you what happened to me. I ordered my 6800GT direct from eVGA no problems. Ive had for a while now well over a month, and 2 days ago it died. Yes it was over clocked @ 400/1.1 but im not sure what happened. I mean it didn't go much over 62-65 degrees under load. But I did an RMA and I'LL ship it today, im hoping it will be quick.

maybe I just got a defective one out of the box. I would still deal with eVGA their customer service was very quick and effective. Just thought I should let you know that I got a bad one, just so you can make a better decision.
 
eVGA has customer service that is unbelievably good in this day and age....I have called 3 times (with questions about the step-up program) and someone answers before you can even finish listening to the hold message. I got my GT very early (before the Doom 3 benches came out) and it's been running flawlessly at ultra speeds ever since. The new Nvidia cards are more finicky than past versions but once you have them set up correctly they are pretty sweet..
 
I've had no problems with my 6800GT but I've only had it about 2 weeks now. Doom 3 runs perfectly on high quality. Painkiller is flawless and Thief: DS looks like I'm watching a movie.
 
My eVGA does not overclock well, but it runs fine. No problems.
 
So the overall end result is that EVGA material is good stuff, yes?

Well....Nvidia did choose eVGA to make the reference cards they sent out for reviews so... ;)
 
i have used some eVGA cards in some workstations i have built. they are just fx 5200's and arent used for gaming, but they have been very stable and not given me any problems.
 
The best thing about eVGA is that they are one of 2 US based cardmakers (BFG is the other) so if you do have to rma it cuts a few days off shipping and the customer service people speak perfect english with no heavy accent. (unless you consider California to be an accent :p )
 
The GT from EVGA is an excellent card as is the company. The step up program worked flawlessly and thier customer service is second to none. I am an EVGA customer for life.
 
Is eVGA still shipping Doom 3 with their 6800GTs?

Regardless, eVGA usually makes pretty good stuff.

Well, there was a 6800GT that shipped with Doom 3, I was 90% sure it was the eVGA. I guess I'll have to go find out which card it was.
 
Got my 6800GT a couple of weeks ago and couldn't be happier. I'd buy another one. Benchmarks are really impessive, and games look sweet.

Yea. they have a Doom3 bundle also; typically more expensive than the Far Cry version.

NewEgg sells both the eVGA with FarCry and the one with D3. Interestingly, the "free" D3 version has been running $20 - $30 more than the FarCry version. Not really interested in D3 (I know, I'm a heretic), I went with the FarCry version and I am having no problems whatsoever using an Antec Truepower 380. OC was so/so. I haven't played with it too much yet, but my best coolbits or Rivatuner OC has been 380/1050. Haven't tried to push it any harder yet.

I've had my eVGA GT since early July [heh, early adopter] and she's never given me problems. Clocked at 425/1100 for 24/7 use, her max is 430/1150. Very nice card overall. And it's got the Nalu sticker, yay.

i second this notion....i had the 6800nu from them, i then stepped up to the GT and it rocks....it runs smoothly in doom3 and on the free copy of farcry that came with it; im really looking forward to getting hl2; i haven't had the need to overclock it yet

my evga 6800gt maxed out at 428/1.14 but i keep it at 400/1.1 and it runs like a biznatch]


dont have experience with other brands, but my card is awesome, and free far cry!
