What is this CloudOS stuff?
Is this just some marketing mumbo jumbo?

What I am thinking of doing is getting on a small ESX build.

Right now I have a small Cluster that I run XP x64 on all the boxes. And have some rendering software I used to make myself a little render farm for some small projects i run for people.
Not much but I get to play with cool stuff, and they get their movies faster. WIN WIN all around.

Problem is 90% of time this thing is just sitting.
Could I possibly use ESX4 to help me use this for something else?

Would I be able to make one VM the "HEAD" node and then have other VM's Compute Nodes and have the spread out over all my boxes?

This "Cloud" bullshit needs to die now.

That is NOT A CLOUD. It is called a CLUSTER or a GRID (depending on interconnect method.) "Cloud" is a fabricated bullshit marketing term which has absolutely no technical meaning or value whatsoever.

To answer the question though, sure. Find something else for it to do that speaks MPIch or similar.
