EMIII reported benchmark from queue.dat

When looking at the queue.dat file info function in EMIII I just noticed that my two WinXP boxes (one AMD XP and one P4) show benchmark numbers in the 5000 range, but my linux boxes (1 Fedora, 4 Foldix) all show benchmarks in the 500-600 range.

Is this meaningful ? (Using version 3.2.0 of EMIII)

 
The benchmark numbers have always been meaningless and always much lower in Linux. It was Pandegroups early attempt to assign WUs based on how fast they could be processed but was dropped before ever used because it was very unreliable. One reason it's not accurate is because it's usually run at the worst possible time when the computer is first started while other programs and services are being loaded. Also it doesn't take into account whether the F@H client is running 1 hour a day or all day. And as you've already noticed Windows and Linux report very different numbers. The benchmark isn't used, but Pandegroup has never removed the code from the client so you still see it. What does count is the performance fraction. The performance fraction does limit some WUs to only faster machines that run 24/7. If you look at the server status page you'll see a column labeled "Min PerfFrac". You can compare that to which WUs are coming from a particular server on the psummary page to determine how high the performance fraction has to be to get particular WUs.
