I think I just borked the motherboard in my sig rig, bummer. At any rate looking to build something using all the parts in my existing sig rig and replacing the memory, motherboard and CPU. Here's what I'm looking at:

MB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131614
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16820227424
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115202&cm_re=i7_920-_-19-115-202-_-Product

What would be a good air cooler? I should be able to hit 4 GHz on air with a good cooler correct? Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!:)

Wow, you and I both - I just bought basically the same setup except I went with the slower ram, but more of it.

Good luck with it man! It sucks when your PC blows up around Christmas AFTER all the gift-purchasing and wrapping is complete :p.

Go with G.Skill or Mushkin 1.5V RAM instead of the OCZ kit you're considering.

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus is a good HSF. YMMV on how far you can push everything. You could reuse your RS1283 -- you'll probably have to buy a LGA 1366 mounting kit for it beforehand -- but its three-pipe HDT design won't perform as well as other HSFs due to the fact that the cores on the Core i7 920 are more spread out.

Re-use the S1283, just pickup the crossbow kit. It should only limit your OC slightly, not a whole lot.

If you have a MC nearby, the 920 is $200.

RMA the old board and sell off the old parts to help offset the cost of the upgrade. ;)
