Email Notifications - Simple Question

Hey Guys-
So, last night I made mention of email notifications being sent for every single update to a thread. The Admin turned off instant notification for me which solves the problem in the short term but not in the long term.

What I'm curious about is if the "Instant Email Notification" function has changed due to the upgrade. Previously, if you subscribed to a thread, the first new update since your last visit would send you an email, you then wouldn't receive another email notification until you viewed the thread.

Presently, if you set instant notification, it sends you a copy of EVERY update to a thread (at least, that's how it was working last night). The Admin that turned it off mentioned that it might be related to the upgrade, but then killed the thread, so I'm trying to get further explanation as to whether this functionality has changed, or if there may be a bug with the forums.

This is by no means a rush thing, more so just something I was curious about after the upgrade, as I've been using the forums for quite some time and this is the first time it has worked this way.

There will be a lot of tweaking going on for the next few days as we come across the problems. Sit tight, help will be forthcoming. :)
 
Ohh ya, figured as much. No worries, you guys do a great job. Definitely the best managed and most information forum I go to.

What exactly is your long term problem? You can not request immediate notification when you sub a thread....
 
I hope you don't take it that I'm demanding anything... I really wouldn't do that. But, I realize after looking at my post it may seem that way.

Maybe I should post this more as a question. With "Instant Notification", should I receive an email copy of every post to a thread, irregardless of if I have looked at the thread since the previous notification?
 
Well, I'm now looking at things and it appears they may be back to normal. I will wait and see.

The first night after the forums were back up, every thread I was subscribed to sent me an email every time someone posted a reply. I got something like 20 or so emails in about 10 minutes on the white background thread. But, now it appears that I am only getting 1 again until I view the thread.

Sorry for any hassle this may have caused :(

Yes, instant notification means you instantly get a mail when the thread has activity.
