Why does Coretemp show my vid as 1.02v when those two are off and when they are enabled , it shows the vid as 1.18v? This is an e8400 on a DFI JR P45. I thought vid was a set value - basically the minimum voltage the chip needs to run at it's factory specifications.

It changes under different conditions. With EIST and C1E enabled under idle the multiplier is 6 so the CPU speed is about 2 Ghz (333Mhz bus speed x 6), and needs less voltage. Under load the multiplier is 9, the CPU speed is about 3 Ghz and needs a higher voltage.
