Has anyone ever fooled around with changing the impeller design on Eheim 1046 pumps? Seems to me that an impeller designed for aquarium use might not be the most efficient design when used in a computer system. Comments?
 
Maybe not changing the impeller, but the entire housing and change it in a Centrifugal pump
So disonnecting the old impeller from the motor-shaft and mounting the centrifugal (customized) housing.
Could be worth a try.
