I'm considering getting the EEEPC w/ XP.

Something I am noticing between them though is that the Linux one comes with a larger SSD built in capability. Is it possible to get a Linux one and slap XP on there, or is there a hardware difference, or hacks required?

The maximum I see for the windows one is 12 GB for SSD, or 160 GB for HDD. I want to go with SSD. So can I get say a 20 GB SSD version and just install XP on it?


Don't know too much about these platforms, but I need an ultra light portable with low power requirements laptop w/ XP.

I bought a EEEPC netbook with XP and 80GB HDD. I ended up replacing the HDD with a 64GB SSD. I simply did a restore onto the SDD and was off and running. No problems. There was even a video on youtube showing how to get the HDD out of there...not that it was hard or anything.

Point being, you can just get the model with HDD, rip that out and put in whatever SSD you want. I ended up selling the spare HDD on the FS forums here to offset a part of the SSD cost.
