Very nice, particularly the first and last ones. I don't have the kind of hardware Mr_Bucket has, but here are some of my attempts. It was a pain in the ass taking photos because of the massive humidity. I had to clean condensation off of the lens every few shots. Also, it turns out that the moon moves quickly enough (well, the Earth rotates, anyway) that an exposure longer than about a second would require a tracking mechanism. So when it got really dark, I had to bump it up to ISO 400.

And just for fun...

These were all shot with the Fujifillm S2 Pro and the 28-200 Nikon I hate so much. None of those are 100% crops, but they were all shot in raw mode.

By the way, did anyone get pictures of the Venus transit a while back?

those are great. I'll post mine later

it was actually pretty funny watching people around me taking pictures of the eclipse using their camera's flash. i'd love to see how those turned out

mr_bucket, did u hand hold those? (i ask, cause i am wondering ifyou cranked the ISO up, there seems to be a lot of nois)

Nice captures to be sure. What was the ISO set at? Which lens?

iso ranged from 200-800

lens was a canon ef 500mm f/4.0L IS USM with a 1.4x II teleextender on a eos-1d mk2

ahh, wouldnt be a bucket thread without these last few posts.

He is aware of how much we hate his braging so he sets you up now by telling you how much it weighs, and throws in a brag about his tripod.

Then, you fall for his trap and ask him about his gear...weeee

The best pic i have seen so far was a 10D hooked up to a big ass telescope, not exactly a cheap route either :D

I've got a T-mount adapter for my 60x spotting scope, but the last time I used it was with an old Pentax 35m, so all I've got is a Pentax K-mount ring to hook up to the T. In fact, I think the last time I used that camera was to shoot a lunar eclipse, maybe 1997 or so. I spent like two hours out in the freezing cold taking photos, then realized I'd never loaded the film . Never again! :)

Anyway, I'm planning on getting a T-to-Nikon ring. I wish I'd had it during the eclipse. At only like $15, I don't know why I haven't gotten it yet, aside from the fact that my lame local photography store didn't have one.

At some point in my life i'd like to invest in a realy nice telescope ($1000 or more) and then start getting into astro-photography. Your subjects are limitless!

someone asked, dont get your panties in a bunch

Nice shots everyone.

Here's mine ... decided to do a composite. Most were taken at ISO 400, f/13 and 210 mm. 1/6 sec exposures -- I don't know how I captured this light considering the aperture.

Turned out OK.

Pretty cool, a guy at sportsshooter.com did one that was simply spectubeulus

I took some photos of the venus thing. Only used 2 ripped apart floppies to take the photos, turned out ok for being cheap. And my Powershot G5 doesnt have amazing zoom capabilities

Remember, the moon is a sunlit object. It's like taking pictures on a sunny day.

Nice shots. I didnt get anything except for some clouds. That and, I dont think we were supposed to get a great eclipse here in Az. Well atlest I tell myself that.

I didn't shoot the lunar eclipse but I have a picture of the moon that I took back in June using a telescope and hand-holding my camera to the eye-piece. Framing the moon wasn't an issue with the magnification I had, but shutter speed slaughtered most of my pictures...

Very cool. I'll second maw's question, though there's nothing wrong with doing some pro bono work :).
