If i buy a 2005fpw off ebay do i have any warranty through dell if it is new in box and hasnt been opened?
 
Did you contact the seller first? The seller contacts Dell for warranty transfer. Monitors don't have service tags but they do have serial numbers located in the back.
 
i guess im gonna go with the 2005FPW on costco for $440 shipped. unless anyone has an objections to that monitor :p

If you decide to exchange it through Dell, buying it through Costco becomes a bit of a hassle. You have to give them the order number on the box itself, the one that Costco used. Then they look it up and say "oh, you got this through costco. So you need to go to this department." And then they transfer you. And they say "no no no, even though you got it from costco, you need to be there" and then you go back and forth and back and forth for awhile until someone caves and ships you a new one. ETA- Between 1-4 hours.
