Easier/quicker way to add rules for m0n0wall? By hand? Like text file?

I've noticed that if you've got a lot of rules or ports to configure for either packet shaper or NAT or what ever that it's pretty tedious and annoying to do in m0n0wall, not to mention I don't have a clue if there is a way for me to backup all of these settings or not...

Is there a way in m0n0wall to just add these rules in manually like via a text file? So that I can copy a rule over and over again, setting it in the right order on the rule list, then be able to edit each one by one with out having to wait for the web interface to load or something?

A way to backup my configuration as well? Cause moving rules up in their priority so that they are applied before other rules is extremely tedious...

Ah, Discovered the backup configuration thing.. Yeah I see this is an XML file. While this is pretty decent and easy to read for the most part, I was curious if there was a program for managing this slightly better or not w/o using the web interface...
