So, I've just got this cpu for my HTPC build and I'm simply amazed. The performance is very good at stock speed. Yet I did buy G33 DS2R not without a reason. I'ts a good overclocker.

Now I took this cpu to 2,85Ghz without moving voltage up  Thats a first good thing.

Sitting over 3ghz now, the fan spins at 450rpm constant and the temps are just flooring me.

Idles at 28deg, with 25 ambient temp. Full load gives 36 degrees :eek::eek:

I'm wondering if this cpu works sometimes :p So good cpu power consumption and wasting wise.

The HSF is Scythe Shuriken btw.

Have you got any experiences with this cpu? If so, which mobo an hsf? Where did you take it and with what kind of cooling?

The sensors in all Intel core processors are not very accurate at idle, especially the 45nm chips. These sensors were neither designed nor calibrated for this purpose. Your idle temperatures are not accurate.

Read the RealTemp docs how you can try and calibrate your CPU if you would like more accurate temperatures from it.

Aight I'll do that. Yet the HSF is not even warm to the touch. And yes it's installed properly with tim spreaded properly as well.

I couldn't oc it for $#!t on my I-N73HD mATX board so I'm RMA'ing that and I've bought an IP35 Pro. In any event, I got it stable over the weekend (and it's still in) my V1000 system with an IP35-E.

I got it to post at 4.1ghz (9.5 x 430fsb), vcore of 1.34.
I got it to boot into Windows at 3.75 (9.5 x 395fsb), had to dwindle down the fsb to get it stable though...
now it's 3.6 (9.5 x 380fsb), 1.34vcore, 16hrs Prime95 stable. TRUE + S-Flex SFF21E w/ Zalman ZM-STG1 grease. Temps (95* tjunction) are 32c idle, 52c load.

I won't go over VID spec (1.3625) otherwise I'd try higher.

Temp wise a lot of people are saying RealTemp is accurate for 45nm because the tjunction is set to 95 instead of 105; CoreTemp has it set at 105. In reality both are correct; you just have to either subtract 10c off CoreTemp's reading or change the ini file to have the tjunction value -10.

I've got mine overclocked to 3.325 Ghz on a mATX Gigabyte motherboard. It runs at idle around 30 to 35 degrees C, and it run Crysis at around 49 to 50 degrees C. Keep in mind I'm using the Thermalright Ultima 90 with no fan attached to it. I love this thing.

Aight I'll do that. Yet the HSF is not even warm to the touch. And yes it's installed properly with tim spreaded properly as well.

My heatsink (TRUE 120) doesnt feel warm when running my E8400, 1.4V @ 4.13GHz full load.
I was surprised too.

You are doing very well.
The max safe Vcore is 1.365V for 45nM chips, in case you need to know.

Regarding temps, the chips are not calibrated to report correct temperatures unless at TjMax, the throttling temp.
Intel have only calibrated them to throttle at the correct temp.
Idle temps are very unlikely to be reported correctly, if they are thats just luck.
This is independent of which monitoring software you intend to use.
Every chip is different too so each one requires individual manual calibration to report correct idle temps.

Any temp below 60C becomes further skewed and often Realtemp reports the temp sensor as stuck (ie it hits a temp and doesnt go below that).
The lowest temp I can get from Realtemp is 42C even when the CPU is at around 25C.
My motherboards monitoring util does report temps down to 22C though so the resolution from the sensor is present.
Realtemp (and all other 3rd party monitoring software I have seen) hasnt got the formula to read idle temps and Intel havent published the formula sadly.
