CPU: 2.13GHz
FSB: 266MHz
RAM: 800MHz
Vram= 1.9v
Vcore= 1.30v

First Step: 2.66GHz

CPU: 2.66GHz
FSB: 333MHz
RAM: 799MHz
Vram= 1.9v
Vcore= 1.3v
Status: Stable!

Second Step: 3.2 GHz

CPU: 3.2GHz
FSB: 400MHz
RAM: 800MHz
Vram=1.9v
Vcore=1.3v
Status: Stable!

Third Step: 3.32

CPU: 3.32Ghz
FSB: 415mhz
RAM: 830Mhz
Vram= 2.0v
Vcore=1.35v
Status: Stable!

Fourth Step: 3.40GHz
Now the crashing happens :D

FSB: 430MHz
RAM: 860MHz
Vram: 2.0v
Vcore: 1.35v
Status: Crashed pretty quickly in Orthos..

We then pumped the Vram to 2.1v and Vcore to 1.375v.

At this Point, we have been running Orthos for 15 minutes without a crash with CPU temp at 52 Degrees.

Will update in a little bit!

Edit!

We are Pretty stable (Well, not enough time has passed to declare is stable!)
We let it run Orthos for a little longer... and got bored...

So... we decided to run 3dmark06... 7033marks!!

If only i had a better video card :D

Edit: 30 min after we ran 3dmark, we re-ran Orthos and got errors. Currently at 1.375v @ 54 degrees running Orthos.. Do you guys think pushing the Vcore more would be worth it? I've heard of people pushing their Core 2 Duo's up to 1.5. What do you all consider a "safe" voltage/temp under load?

And the point here is..? Imagine how many threads we'd have with everyone posting their OC steps. :rolleyes::eek:

I was happy. Show me in the rules where i can't post about my OC adventure? I was going to add more later about my temps and such with the cooler i have.

Go F yourself.

LMAO! Well stated! I say bring on all the info I can get!

What Vcore are you at with your 6420>

On my MB I did all the way to 3.3ghz with stock volts. 1.416 on CPU-Z. I upped it one increment (I think twice total) to hit 3.6 totally stable overnight. I didn't really see too much gain on anything I do over 3.2 One GHZ was my goal when I got it, I might go for more later on when I get time. I know it's got room.

36c idle 58c load

I backed down to 3.2 to run a longer Orthos test to confirm stability.

3.2GHz @ 1.3v. After about 4 hours, i got an error in Orthos! (Not as stable as i thought!)

3.2GHz @ 1.35v. Orthos has been running for 13 hours. I've heard 8 hours is enough to consider it stable.. I'm going to let it run a little longer.

@1.35v Temps are 51 degrees under load (Orthos)

Not too bad.

I'll try bumping it up again tonight and post the results.

As a side note, Does anyone have:

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

If so... what have you overclocked it to?

My wifes E6420 is stable at 3.4ghz, 1.43 vcore, 425 FSB x 8...

Referring to you and your processor as 'we' is awfully strange... Am i missing something?

E6420 and I had a great time yesterday at the mall.

I was doing this with a friend of mine. I figured that people who actually leave the house every now and then would have picked up on this.

We were running at 430MHz FSB for a while..but was Failing orthos. And i started getting explorer errors... I'm pretty sure I'm limited by my ram at this point. I was able to overclock the RAM to about 830MHZ. After this, i started getting some instability. I'm almost positive that it's the RAM and not the NB conking out on me at this point.

I'm pretty content with 3.2GHz. I just wanted to see if anyone has the RAM i have to see how their numbers compared.

So are you still at 1.35 vcore? If you tried 3.4ghz at 1.35 vcore, and you found it wasn't stable, I'd say that's probably your issue. I had to bump my wifes vcore up to 1.43 vcore at 3.4ghz to be 24/7 stable / Orthos stable.

I just thought you were crazy.

Anyway, I'm getting a set of OCZ reaper today, oc'ing may be fun, may be not.

OCZ reaper pc8500 Are friggin awesome i own them ;) they are great.

Also. your temps are probably wrong BTW.

Download Coretemp 0.95.4 I noticed your using 0.95 add about +15c to your current temps.

I didn't post my Screenshots yet,,, so i might as well.

I'll try Overclocking it higher using the advice i got here this weekend (Hopefully!)
