I'm going to buy a budget processor until I decide to go 45nm, so what should I get? I'll be overclocking it as much as possible btw. I'm hoping to score one used for like ~80 bucks.
 
How about the 21 series? 2160 or 2180 should overclock pretty good, and you can't beat those prices.
 
Not enough info- what is you expected output (3.0ghz-3.6ghz) your mobo, your ram,
and the fsb that you want to achieve that goal.

A e2140 with its 8X multiplier is 2.4 at 300fsb
A e2180 with its 10X multiplier - 3.0 at 300fsb
A e4600 with its 12X multiplier - 3.6 at 300fsb

I must say e6400, I bought two of them and they both run at 3,4ghz under 1,5v at air cooling.
For more budget choice you should go foe e4xxx series, they have the same cache mem with e6400, and if you're lucky enough you can get a e4xxx which overclock well so you you get e6xxx performance at cheaper price :)
 
make sure u dont buy that mobo, the dfi one doesnt support 45nm cpu's altho the p965 chipset can they dont plan to do a bios update. get an abit ip35-e, its basically the same price, better chipset, and it supports 45nm cpu's

The DFI board has crossfire support as well as RAID support and it's cheaper..?
