E6300 Overclocking slow down

Ok I have a question here about my fairly recent Overclocking of a E6300. I have a E6300, Gigabyte 965-DS3 with ver F3 of the Bios. I have a BFG 7900GT and 512 meg x 4 of corsair DDR6400 5-5-5-12 ram.

Now here is the strange part. When I am running things like Super Pi and such the overclock of 2.8 ghz rocks. It's like 21 seconds for a 1 meg. It's Stable with a 24 double session of Prime 95. But it feels slower. It feel laggy and for games I get lower FPS. Am I doing something wrong with the Ram timings or maybe with the PCI-E settings I left it to Auto for the PCI-E Mhz. I have been running it at stock for a few weeks now cause it is noticalbey faster at 1.86 than 2.8 anyone with a successful overclock on a gigabyte DS3 please share your settings in the bios. I tried upping the volts on the processor and ram and I still have the bios reverting to 1.86 ghz once in a while when I reboot. Any info on what I might be doing wrong would be great.

ive heard of something similar happening with overclocked p4s. try underclocking ur cpu to about 1ghz and c how u perform in games. if performance goes up, that might mean ur power supply isnt juicing ur cpu enough, so u shud get a new psu.
