e4500 or.e6750 on windows xp ?

Sorry for asking this for the Nth time...:eek:

I'm planning to buy system with

- Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L mobo
- 2 * 1 DDR2 800Mhz (probably patriot extreme)
- HD 3850 512mb
- Scythe Ninja rev.b. for my air cooling

I'm still using windows xp and I'm not planning on upgrading soon.
This will be for 'some' gaming, photoshop, multimedia and internet.
I'll probably overclock either cpu a little.... So my question is which CPU I should buy? Budget is tight and if there is no big difference I would rather go with the cheaper solution. Or perhaps I should get another CPU?

If you're not planning on upgrading, then get the E6750. May as well get power that will last you.
 
Yup, I have that same board along with a 6750 and 2 gigs of ddr2 800 running XP Pro and i am very happy with the performance.
 
If you're looking to save money, just fine an E6300 on the fs forums and overclock it.
 
if you upgrade a lot, get an E2180 or E2160, overclock it 3.0-3.5Ghz+ and it will hold you over 6 months to a year, then you can get a 45nm quad for cheap and overclock that to 4+ghz
 
shit my e4300 is faster than I need, I just ordered a Abit IP35 pro to see how high I can OC it, I'm sure the e4500 will suit you fine then once the new 45nm drop in price go for one. Or just wait till January and pick up a e8200

How much will e8200 go for? and will it require newer mobo with a new chipset?
 
there is a pricing list somewhere but it won't be expensive at all, around 150 I think, your chipset is a p35 so it will support the new chips coming out in a couple months.

I guess I'll wait and see. :) Since I have to wait till mid January to buy new system.

Since my s754 rig broke down, you wouldn't believe what I'm working on now.....

AMD K6 with 64mb (- 4mb for onboard video) and windows 98Se with Firefox 2.0 even browsing is slow.....LOL....the system is sloooooooooowwwwwwwwwww I dunno how I survive on this.....another long 90 days :p............:eek:
 
If youre OCing the 4500 is nice. Esp since you said budget was tight. I love mine.

wow...:eek: Finally I got some time to do some RTFM about upcoming Penryn e8xxx lineup.... According to below article it should the e8200 should be in price range of e6550. I guess I'll wait till January...
