E4300 vs. E2160

Most of my parts for 2 dedicated folding comps have arrived, and I'm making final desicions.

I have a dell with an E4300. Should I put that into one of the new boxen and put an E2160 in the dell?

The dell won't be used for anything intense, I'm just wondering if this would turn out well (being compatible with the dell mobo and whatnot). I'm planning to OC both of the folding boxen.

Opinions?

I would go with whichever one will clock the highest. The extra cache on the E4300 will help some but not enough to overcome the E2160 if it will overclock higher.

For what it's worth, I have a E4500 @ 2.2 that makes 1417 ppd on a P2653 running straight up Windows SMP.

I heard the E4300 can clock to >3GHz.

Here's the dilemma I'm in. The E4300 is doing ~1200PPD at stock w/ notfred's folding CD. It looks like the E2160 @ 3GHz can do about 1600PPD on the folding CD. I'm thinking of getting a good cooler and overclocking the E4300 to ~3GHz and running SMP in windows for ~1700(?)PPD.

All I really need to know now is how well the E4300 compares with the E2160 at stock speed. I hope to run windows on the E4300@3GHz and have it produce about the same as the E2160@3GHz on notfred's CD. Is this possible?
 
On my rigs:

E2140 (8 x 333) @ 2.66 Ghz 1473 PPD (1460-1485) Linux 64 (Notfred's Folding CD)
E6600 (9 x 333) @ 3.00 Ghz 1950PPD (1935-1965) Windows SMP w/ Aff Changer
 
I chose an E4300 for my wife's rig because someone was kind enough to sell me one for $70. If I hadn't found that deal an E2x00 would have been fine. I don't think dropping to 1MB has any noticeable affect at all on today's work units. I will say though that the 9x multi is nice on the E4300. I can run her $2.99 DDR667 at stock and still hit 3 Ghz.

 
2160 and 4300 both have a 9x multi, correct?

Use the 4300 for folding. The cache does make a difference, and the 2160 is unlikely to clock any higher than the 4300.

(the right answer is to use BOTH for folding)
