DVI w/out HDCP

Hello
I have a 2405FPW (the 24" without HDCP). What would happen if I purchased a Blu-Ray player and hooked it up using DVI? Would I get an image? I heard that studios are not encrypting their movies with ICT (image constraint token) allowing HD video to be shown over component inputs. Will I still get video over DVI inputs?

Also, does anyone know if the 2405FPW will support 1080p over component or DVI?

If I am wrong, somebody correct me.. But I believe it depends on how they encode it.. Depending on the HD-DVD it would either play normally at full resolution, scale down to 480p or just not display at all. So w/o the encryption it should play full resolution.

That sounds about right to me. Although from what I understand the ICT is only for analoge signals, that will downscale any HD signal to SD size once activated (2009 I think).

The HDCP is different though, that's for digital signals/cables and is active now, so if you don't have an HDCP monitor/cable/graphics card (or just screen and cable if through a TV) and try to play a disc that has HDCP encoding on it then you will get no picture at all.

I heard that this monitor scales down all signals fthrough analoge cables anyway, but to 720p, not 480p like the ICT. So not to bad but not to great either.

2405WFP hooked up to a HD-DVD/Blu-ray player with a DVI-HDMI cable would give you no picture at all since it lacks HDCP and won't be able to handshake. You can still view movies in 720p or 1080i through component for a few years until either the ICT (Image Constraint Token) on discs is ever used (everything downscales to 480p) and/or the DOT (Digital Only Token) is used on disc and then the player will refuse to play on any analog inputs such as component, composite, etc.
