So i've bought an asus 24" inch recently and I'm hooking up my pc to it however I've noticed that the HDMI port doesn't go into power saving mode on the PC..the DVI does however. My question is, if I decide to just connect my pc to the monitor via DVI instead of the DVI->HDMI connector am I losing any image quality here? Thanks.

No. DVI and HDMI both use digital signal. The most significant feature of HDMI is that it can stream audio and digital video all within one cable.

Oh yeah, and you get the fantastic HDCP DRM "feature" along with HDMI as well!

Thanks, I don't care about the sound coming from one signal as I rather use my PC speakers in any case (The speakers that came with the monitor sound like a**)

Monitor speakers.... eww...

You get better sound quality from a soup can and string plug into an audio jack.

Heh, QFT.

The Dell "fancy" monitor - the one with the glass, speakers, shitty TN panel, and costs $1200 - comes to mind.

Honestly couldn't they just cut the cost down on not adding the speakers and perhaps put the money towards something else.
