i just bought a new monitor (thank you black friday) because i wanted to set up dual monitors, but my video card has one dvi output, and one vga output. the vga one's taken up by my first monitor, so for the second i was expecting to use just a dvi to vga adapter. But from what i read from searching here, adapters don't work too well? or they do something to the signal (not exactly sure what). but anyway, another person wrote that a dvi to vga cable would work better, but for this monitor, theres probably about ~4 feet of cable connected directly to the moitor, so if i got a cable, it would be around 7-8 or so feet of cable. would that effect the signal at all?

basically, im wondering what would be the best possible option for as little money aspossible.

thanks

My video card has two DVI ports so I had to use the included DVI -> VGA adapter and I didn't notice any problems. I think all it does is remap the DVI pinout to the VGA pinout while not using some of the DVI only signals. There's not any conversion going on though. But I may be mistaken.
