I got a DVDRW by Pioneer. It has DVD-R: 4x; DVD-RW: 2x; +R: 4x; +RW: 2.4x ;CD-R: 16x; CD-RW: 10x.

I'm confused what is +R, +RW and -R. Can anyone please explain?

Thx

R = Writing to a DVD... You place data on a blank DVD and once it's on there it is permanant.

RW = Data can be Re-written on the DVD. You can add or delete or change data that is already on the blank DVD.

Make sure you know what type of DVD's you are buyging however.

As indicated by your Pioneer, the DVDRW is slow burning and you have to erase it each time you wan to remove stuff, which takes awhile as well.

What does the minus and plus sign mean?

Do as I did and educate yourself here: DVDRHELP

As I understand it, the +/- only signify the format type, they do not mean one is superior to the other. They are competing formats.

Go to the site liked above and see if someone has mentioned your particular drive and what they report as to what works best on your drive. And see what works best on any DVD Players you may have.

Knowlege is Golden, and obtaining the knowelge yourself makes it stick, at least in my case.:D
