Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Plextor is the only SATA DVD burner. It is short, like the Lite-On. Your board is probably too new. Only way to know is to try it and see.
Personally, I would just keep your Lite-On, because the SATA version is a ripoff. Problems with the technology and twice the price for a thinner cord?? Way not worth it. They will eventually come down in prices and the problems will go away, once more manufacturers start making them.
Plextor's SATA burner is just the IDE burner with a bridge on it, hidden by the casing. There is someone in the Optical Drives forum that took their's apart.
I'd suggest just getting an IDE DVD-R drive at the moment. They're cheaper, compatible with more motherboards, and you will have a MUCH larger selection to choose from.
