I Recently bought a memorex Dual Format DVD Burner, and installed it. Windows installed the hardware, but recognized it incorectly. When I go to My Computer, it just says DVD Rom, not DVD RW, and the burning software doesnt recognize it. I re-installed it multiple times, but keep getting the same problem. Please help.
Thanks

I upgraded from a DVD Rom, and have reinstalled the new drive multiple times at this point. It still shows up as DVD Rom DVD-16X6S. I installed the ASPI software but I dont think it helped.

In the order I would try them:
1.Go into your BIOS. Make sure it has detected the new drive correctly. There might be some sort of detect procedure. When it's right, save and exit. Boot...see if it worked
2.Go to Memorex's website, and see if there is a firmware update.
3.Go to the web-page of the software maker of the burning app you're using, and see if there's an update or patch available (usually not an issue if you're using the software that came with your burner).
Hope this helped!
