Durable camera needed

Im looking for a durable, small camera.

Does anyone have any experiance with something that can withstand the punishment of being thrown around (in a bag), dropped, etc on a daily basis?

I cant spend lots, so something thats used is perfectly okay.

I guess that a non-optical zoom would be more durable, as of the lack of moving parts, however, whats the point of spending money on a piece of crap that cant even really zoom.

Thanks.

Edit: dont really care about MP, oh rite, digital too

modern electronics are delacate things, i cant think of one thing that would fit that description

even if such a camera existed, chances are it would be very expensive.

you should probably consider investing in a durable carry case, not a durable camera.

my guess is you could probably make something on your own. get a small lunchbox or other small lockable and sealable container, cut a piece of foam to fill it with, then cut out an area inside the foam to fit the camera snugly inside. a friend of mine did something similar for his digicam that he takes along on hiking and mountain biking trips.

How about you just buy a digital camera, regardless of how durable it is, and then whenever you're not shooting pictures, store it in a carrying case that can sustain impact. Then it will become a durable camera.

slightly off topic response: get an old bulky camera. in my experience you can break old stuff and even if parts are falling out, it'll still probably work. new stuff is all stream lined, every nook and cranny is filled with a sensitive something that if broken ruins the camera.

in all honestly though, i would recommend perhaps one of the powershot S series cameras, just because they are small and dont have much mass to them, plus has metal bodies (well, some/most of them do i believe). Of course, they will still break. If get a good case to go with it however, you'll probably be in good shape for a while :)

Get a camera that you like at a Wolf or Ritz Camera, then get their extended service plan, that covers ALL damage if you drop it or break it, so you dont have to worry about the durability of the camera.
