Ok so a little background. I am running ESXi 5 on a Shuttle box with an i7 and 32gig of ram. For drives I have a SSD for running some of the machines and a 2tb drive for storage of ISOs and other files. I plan on putting another SSD in raid soon. I also have a usb to sd reader for the boot device. This is going to be used as a demo device to show different phone systems off to new clients.
I had ESXi running fine with no issues then I applied some patches from CLI and now I keep getting duplicate UUID. I removed everything from both drives and even deleted all the partitions from the drives and the SD card and rebuilt with ESXi update 1 install. Once I copy my VMs back to the hard drives I get a duplicate UUID message.
I thought the duplicate UUID was more for it was seeing two installs of ESXi? Could it be an issue with 2 vms that happen to be copied on two different drives? I did make a copy of all the vms for a backup when I ran the update. I didn't even add the vms back so I am not sure if that is the issue.
