At the moment when I run folding, I get 50% load because folding can only run off of one core. I've heard you can get it to use both cores by opening up two clients, but when I try to do that it says it can only run one.

So whats the secret to get two folding clients (I use the graphical) up and running so I can use both cores.

Don't use the graphical version, instead use the console version.

Download one copy. Make two folder i.e. "Fold1 and Fold2"
Make copy of the console and put them in the folders.

CMD - cd to the directory
type in FAH502-console.exe -forceasm -configonly and configure for username, team 33, etc...

Although for the second one, you'll need to go into the adv options and change the machine id to 2

then when ur done configuring... [Make sure u configured them to run as services]

run services.msc and start the services labelled FAH etc.... - there should be two of them and U should be pegging along at 100% :)

Enjoy

Okay I got all the other parts understood, can you explain that one?

FAH502-console.exe -forceasm -configonly

Go into properties of the program and paste this, overwrite what's there with that line then open :)

Enjoy

yeah I realized that like.. right after I posted.

too lazy to change it, but just for you, I did

the whole thing about cmd, cd to the directory, etc. is... You goto Start Menu->Run...

Type cmd to bring up the dos command prompt.. then you type cd [directory path here], for example:

cd c:\fah1\

then you type the exe name of the console (I always rename it first to just FAH504.exe), with -configonly flag.. so for example

fah504.exe -configonly

this will start the console's config process, which is more or less like filling out a questionare. lol. The big options you want to pay special attention to are basically, run as a service on startup YES.. machine ID: you should give each copy of FAH a different machine id number here.. so for one of them type 1 the other one type 2..

also, if you have 512mb of ram or more, you might consider saying yes to big work units, as they award more points.

note, they will start up next time windows starts as background services, meaning there wont be any visible window, etc. To view progress, either check on the unitinfo.txt file found in the local directory, or download monitoring software such as EM3 (see hardfolding.com->FAH addons section) if you must have the purty pictures.

hope that helps.

Then if you don't want to install it as service, go and download EM3 to manage the client. it's Electron Microscope

Thanks, I got it running both cores now, and the console version doesn't make my games "lose focus" and go to desktop anymore!

This should certainly up my production, from a single Socket A 2600+ to a Socket A 2600+ AND a 805D OC'ed to 3.6 (sure it could go higher, but it doesn't give much tangible benifits to the amount of energy used, and a 24/7 box, don't want the CPU using 200 watts on its own!)

Actually I might have an issue.

When I configure the consoles, I change the first one to ID 1, then I change the second one to ID 2... I go back to the first console (in fold1 folder) and it magically changed to ID 2, so I change that back to ID 1 and console2 (in fold2 folder) magically changed to ID 1... and it keeps happening, what I change to one console, the other does the same.

I got 100% CPU usage right now, but the processes show two iterations of FahCore_82, don't know if its crunching 2 seperate files or not though :-\

I think i'm just being stupid, its working fine. I checked the unitinfo file in each folder and they are crunching two seperate files. One is p1809_Collagen_POG10new_

The other is p1808_Collagen_Brodsky_r

Looks like i'm peachy now! Okay Dokay, all set and rearin' to go!
