Dual Socket A Folding Guys

i would think the Athlon-XP mobiles are still better becuase they have the L5 bridge closed and are 266mhz FSB chips, so they will work on most of the dual athlon boards that are only 200/266mhz fsb

definately great news for those that have MPX boards that can go to 333mhz tho :)

sry for being out of the loop, but mobiles are MP's out of the box?

btw, congrats on hitting one mil bro!

well i have gotten conflicting reports, they have the L5 bridge closed, and are 266mhz fsb chips (even the barton 512k cache chips)

i am about 75% sure you can just drop them in... im doing more research but the thing is a lot of people are also overclocking them... im not so interested in oc'ing as i am getting a pair of barton core cpu's with the least effort :)

All you need is a pair of older non hard locked bartons, pin mod them to 3200, do the voltage mod and close the L-5. They work great in the Asus boards.

thats a lot of effort... and what i had and had lots of problems with the L5-mod un-modding itself

plus the tyan boards are super anal about the L5 bridge etc

im looking for plug and play here man! im lazy! :p

*goes to newegg* Hmmmm....... Hmmmmmm..................... :D

Keep on Folding!!

If anyone has a definative answer on the Mobiles, please post. Also, what is a good Dually Motherboard for this. I wouldn't mind "upgrading" a few systems and it seems like it could be cost effective.

Didn't the guys over at 2cpu have this thing about mobile AXP's figured out? I thought I saw it while browsing there.

I though the Sempron's would be useful as they are still being produced and are cheaper than "real" MP's.

yes there were many discussions about the mobiles over at 2cpu, the issue was that they really were vauge as to what modifications were nessicary for what and if they worked straight out of the box....

or maybe i am just not understanding correctly dunno... maybe later when im even more bored at work i will re-read the axp mobile threads over there... definately the best resource for such stuff...

and ideally if these cpu's work with no-mods as MP's they should work in just about any AMD MP/MPX chipset motherboard...

my Tyan Thunder S2462 and my Tyan Tiger S2466 need some low voltage barton lovin :)

i would say 350 enhance ps's at a min for duals and go up from there
