I just picked up a Hanns-G HW223D... but I still have my raly nice Sylvania 19" TFT LCD that doesnt even have a single pixel wrong with it after roughly 2 years of use. I dont want to just toss it in storage and I'm not sure I want to risk shipping it. I bought it when it was still a $400 monitor, and I didnt want to just let it sit there.

I run on an Nv 7950GT that is both OVd and OCd well beyoned spec. And it has 2 monitor output jacks on it... what i'm wondering is...

How bad will having two monitors degrade the performance of my video card?

Secondly... how do I have 2 monitors where one is for the game I'm playing, but make the other one show nothing but my regular desktop so i can pull up a webpage or forum while gaming? ... or view my ventrillo on the other one?

Essentialy... how do I get both to run off the same card, but show different things?

these same questions are asked almost week. Doesn't anyone use the search or at least browse through the forum?

I had no idea that this was a common question... as I personaly dont know anyone using 2 monitors for any of their needs... forgive me if I've hit a nerve..

This is all done in the driver... it is pretty self explanatory if you go into the driver and look at the configuration options. The Nvidia driver will let you configure it a variety of ways. I think the most common is to have it run the two monitors separately at their own resolutions, but then treat them as one big desktop so you can move windows around whereever you wish.

Depending on the game, some of them take over and don't let you use the second monitor while they are running. I believe its a question of whether they are running in a window or not... if they are then you can put one window on one display and do whatever you wish on the other.

As for performance, it shouldn't make much of a difference.

I have dual benq fp202w lcds. One was bought new, the other used. I cannot for the life of me get the same exact colors correct on both of them. Even on default factory settings for both, one is more dull looking than the other.

I'm pretty sure its just due to being a bit older.

^^^ correct, you could buy 2 monitors at the same time and their colors could be off.
