Dual loop radiator suggestions(?)

I'm slowly building my new rig and just ordered two DDC-12v pumps..I'm looking into doing a dual loop setup. One for the Cpu and one for the gpu's/hard drive and possibly ram. My question is what radiators to use...I was thinking of running a Stealth 120mm for the cpu and then a 240 for the others..Does anyone see this as a problem? Would I be restricted or not have low enough temps? I could run two 240's but i'd have to do alot alot of work to my case. Any suggestions on which route i should choose?
 
If you've got room, i would say use a single PA 120.3 and run the pumps in series for 1 very powerful loop. You can use something like the swiftech F connectors the more restrictive parts like the HD coolers and ram cooler.

I've got a dual lops system with 2 mcr 220's and 2 DDC's and i've got one rad mounted on the back, and one mounted on the top (outside), and i wish i had just gone with a single 120.3. The rad is fairly expensive, but it's possible to have a much more sleek installation than what i currently have.

Just my opinion on dual loop.

Now if you still want dual, there's some questions that need anwering first.

1. What cpu and gpu(s) ?
2. Do you plan on overclocking, and how much?
3. Is silence a BIG concern?
 
I'm running a older dual loop (pumps anyway) but I'm running a MCR320 for the CPU and a MCR220 for the GPU, it keeps things more than cool enough.

 
I'm either going to be running a 6800 or the quad core..Depending on where I am in about 2 weeks with my build, and either 1950xtx's or next gen. I do plan on overclocking and silence isn't really a problem. What is this your talking about Swiftech connectors? Are you talking about a specific type of barb for each block and the rad and pump or like a T or Y connector of a sort? I'm still fairly new to liquid cooling..Just got done with a basic thermaltake big water kit and i'd like to take it to the next level. I know its a ongoing debate on whether to cool one block then move to another before going to the radiator, but I figured two loops would just be a better way to go, but I like this idea of two pumps on one loop. Would I just have one pump push to the cpu..then the other pump would help after that to push to the gpu/hd? And i've got a Silverstone TJ06-- I've got lots of room left.
 


Think thats a 45 degree bend. Main body is 1/2" the smaller split is 1/4". I considered using the 1/4" split for stuff like ram and controllers and whatever else, but think a nice heatsink and airflow would be sufficient if not even better and make the set-up a lot less congested.
 
Would I be able to have that coming off my pump, have the thicker run to my gpu and the smaller to my hd or ram and return? Or how exactly would I encorporate two pumps in one loop, like the person above was saying.
 
you run the pumps in series.... outlet of one pump to the inlet of the 2nd pump....
 
Is this more common than doing two loops? Or just personal preference?
 
Two DDC-2 pumps in series with Petra's top and a PA120.3 will handle anything that you throw at it and tubing the loop will be a lot easier.

QFTMFT.

Buying two decent radiators, you're looking at a total price that's getting close to a PA120.3 in price (edit - not super cloase, but getting there), and nowhere near as good at cooling. Keep your life simple, and put it all on one loop. You'll never have to upgrade the PA120.3... because it's the best radiator bar none. If you really can't fit the PA120.3 (it's thick!), you'd still be better off with one loop and a PA120.2, a PA160, or a cheaper 3x120 rad than two loops.

Dual loops are for one thiing and one thing only - looks. With dual loops, you've doubled your chance of pump failure causing problems. On one loop, you have redundancy so you can limp it in if one fails without burning anything. (Although you'll be using the RPM monitors anyways, right?)

And save yourself some trouble and don't watercool the RAM or hard drives. They are also only ever watercooled for looks alone - except in the most extremely cramped and hot cases.
 
I really hate to tell you but regardless of what you think, you get much better temps running dual loops. I've had my system configured everyway that you can think of and the best temps come from a dual loop setup. Stock temps didn't really see any sort of improvement, but when you start cranking up a 1 GHz OC at over 1.7v on the CPU and a volt modded 7900, that's where the dual loop really shines.........;) Hell, my GPU never goes over 35c and I think mu CPU hits around 36-37c at 11x275............ :eek:

Your setup works very well. That's because you have so much radiator - not really because it's a dual loop. But if you're pushing a Storm for an extreme OC, the best way to use those two D5s is to stack them for extra head pressure to make those tiny jets really scream. But the difference between that and a Storm on its own loop with a D5 all to itself isn't very big at all unless you're measuring every fraction of a degree. You're not really missing out on that much (if anything), and I think you are well aware of that. ;)

(edit - If you don't have a storm, it probably doesn't make that much difference.)

The OP is comtemplating doing a dual setup with a 120 for the CPU. That's quite a different scenario from yours. If he really wants to push that chip, a CPU loop with a 120 isn't going to be quite as good as a combined loop with dual DDCs pushing though a PA120.3, or even a PA120.2 or BIGT360.
