Ok, i'm just looking for some advice here. I currently have 2 dell 21" monitors (p1130) and really dig the real estate. I want to upgrade to lcd's and can't decide on which direction i should go. The options i'm considering are:

2x Dell 2007WFP
or
2x Dell 2007FP
or
1x Dell 2407WFP & 1x Dell 2007WFP

So the main concern really is how beneficial/nice is it to have widescreen? I game on occasion, but mostly web browsing/development/photo editing etc. I plan on getting Ergotron arms for whatever I get:

Is two widescreens too wide to be useful? Any help is appreciated.

Well I do have one suggestion, don't mix and match monitors, if you want to go dual get the same model. If not you're going to pull out your hair trying to calibrate the color and contrast to make them look similar

agreed.

I don't think that having two widescreen monitors would be anything but beneficial, provided you prefer widescreen monitors in the first place. I love widescreen, and don't intend to ever go back to 4:3. Others have different opinions. You really can't get much info on which would be better for you here; you'll have to decide it for yourself.

I don't know, part of the reason I said not to go with different models is because I did so myself. I guess I wasn't really thinking about calibration when I put the setup together, I got a vp930b for 4:3 duty and a 215tw for widescreen. The samsung's color is already pretty nice but the vp looks awful and I just can't calibrate it to look half good or even close to the samsung. So let's say I have 2 webpages open on each screen, both displaying white and one looks horribly off. It's really annoying to say the least. If I had to get 2 monitors all over again they'd definately both be widescreen, maybe a little bigger though :D

I never like to recommend the 2007 WFP over the 2007 FP mainly because of the lower resolution and since you primarially work with text/images (vs watching movies) i'd say you want as much resolution as you can get (at least not less than you had before).

If i was to mix&match i'd do the 2407 WFP and 2007 FP, since they are nearly identical in height and have the same vertical resolution dragging windows across them will be much less of a pain. I don't think the whites will be all that different between the two but the colors may not be exactly the same.
