DUAL intel pro 1000/pt adapter in PCI-E x1 port?

Hi.

I know this is a PCI-e x4 lane card, but has anyone tried it in a x1 slot??

I won't get full speed on both ports, but it should be fast enough for my needs.

isn't a x4 longer than an x1? will it even fit?

There are some x1 slots that are open ended... or you can make them you self using a Dremel

Another option is a PCI-E x1 Intel GbE card and VLANs- No dremeling, no loss of speed. Or put the x4 card in a x16 slot.
