The 6600GT is a dang sweet card, it runs games well and has the dual dvi which is why I went with XFX over the other brands. If XFX had a 6200 AGP or a cheaper 6600 I'd say that but the 6600GT with a 30 main in gets you 163 with shipping. You'll most likely be payin at least 150 for a dual dvi card these days, most lower end cards will have one of each.
edit: I've got those headphones too, they're sweet.
I did a little research and found out that the XFX 5700 utlra also has the dual dvi but I don't know how's speed for gaming. How does the XFX 5700 Ultra Dual DVI DDR3 compare to other cards and what ATI card is level witht his card?
for under the $200 price point, *AND* current generation cards,
XFX seems to be the only option for dual-dvi.
Matrox still has the parahelia with dual-dvi for under $150, but you won't be gaming at all on that card.
Dual-dvi isn't common at all on cards. it makes me wonder what everybody's using for their dual- 2005fpw setups. or 2001fps like mine.
I went with the xfx 6600GT from newegg after doing tons of research and making the horrible purchase of trying a 9200 pci card coupled with my 9800 pro.
It works, but the pci bus just doesn't handle the bandwidth of 1600x1200 very well.
Scrolling is a little jumpy, and playing a DVD only works on the card in the agp slot, so the video is stuck on one monitor.
the 6600GT fixed all the issues, and I can switch dvd playback to either screen.
I think I have found what I am looking for within my budget. I am thinking about the XFX 5700 Ultra with Dual DVI. What do you guys think of this card? Does this card par with the ATi 9600 Pro? I am using a dual for, 1 screen for gaming and the other for applications.
You probly won't be able to run the native 1280 by 1024 that the 1095fp runs unless you turn everything WAY down, but you could probly run 1024x768 with some decent detail with cs:s. My rig in my sig runs cs:s at 1280x1024 with everything up cept reflect all and i get steady playable fps. But in the end it all comes down to how much you're willing to pay for the amount of performance you're wanting. The 5700ultra should be ok, esp if you get it for 100 or less!
