Dual Bios Fail Flashing

Hello all...
I just downloaded the leaked 7970 GHz BIOS and tried to flash it to my MSI HD 7970 factory OC 1010\1375 and it failed and the screen freezed after a sleep mode,so i switched to the second bios and reflashed it, and again epic fail :mad: ,so i ended up with both bios 2,1 messed up,and my card dosn't boot at all. any ideas on how to restore my original bios ?,I have never flashed a gpu bios before so any instructions,guidance and notes on flashing the gpu would be more than appreciated.

Do you have integrated gpu on your CPU or motherboard or an extra video card you can put in a space PCI slot?
 
unfortunately i don't have integrated gpu or extra VGA,but i could grab one from a friend or something.can you please show me how to flash it back using lets say another vga on the primary slot i'm a first time flasher and i don't wanna make any mistakes this time.
 
That 2nd bios is there to protect you, why on earth did you flash that too? Its meant to restore card if first bios gets borked......
You can try and do a blind flash with a floppy disk and MSDOS. But if your not booting at all your screwed. Gonna have to boot with a 2nd card.

I flashed the 2nd gpu becuase i read somewhere that the 1st one is not writable so i thought the 2nd bios would work. can anyone tell me what utility to use to flash the gpu ?

Create bootable USB/SD card with ATIflash.

Unplug your video card power. Unplug all other SATA drives.

Put atiflash bootable USB/SD in USB port. Also make sure you have a working copy of the BIOS that you want to flash saved on the USB/SD card.

Power up your computer. Give it a few seconds.

Hit control-ALT-Delt and the computer should reboot. Do that twice just to make sure it is booting up into ATIflash.

Plug power connector back to video card and turn on computer. (in between connecting power connectors good idea to pull power cable from PSU).



Once the card has power connectors connected turn on and wait a minute to perform blind flash.


type "atiflash -f -p 0 nameofbios.rom"

You have to do it word for word and with the name of the bios you saved on the SD card.

Make sure your video card is in the first pci slot coming from the CPU. That is the "0" slot.


Once you type the command hit enter and wait about 2 minutes then type control-alt-delete and it should reboot and you should get a video signal on your display.

Make sure you get the second bios switch working right as well. Hope this helps.

I have made the same mistake before and did a blind flash just for fun. It's not that hard to do just have to make sure your atiflash boots up right and you get the commands and bios file typed correctly.

but how can i do a bootable usb with ATIflash,i run ATIflash and all i can see is dos window in the end it says press any key to continue...and i keep pressing until it closes,sorry if that's a dumb question.

Read up ahead of time and only flash one experimentally and then if it fails flash it back then try again if you want...


Dual bios doesn't mean anything if you mess them both up.

Don't press the key to conitnue. You need to enter the command atiflash to bring up the commands for atiflash and then every time you try a command you need to enter atiflash before any command. Enter DIR to see what is on the your bootable disk. You should see ATIFlash and the BIOS.rom that you saved.

Also you shouldn't be getting any video image unless you have an integrated gpu on your cpu or motherboard. So if you get a video output on your display from the problem system then you don't have to do a blind flash because you must have an igpu on your CPU or MB. Just boot up Atiflash and perform the flash.

Yeah but it can happen and if it does its not the end of the world if you know how to do a blind flash.

It's really not a tough fix.
 
Finally I did it,it was way easier than i expected when you have an extra vga.
