I'm planning on purchasing a Mac Mini and connecting it to two monitors, either 22" or 24". I plan to use the Mac mostly for word processing, iCal, iPhoto, web surfing. I'm not planning on watching movies (except for YouTube) and wont be gaming. I'm thinking of around $200 per monitor.

I've been looking at the Acer X223Wbd as it's roughly $150 and well within my budget. However, the Hanns·G HG-281DPB is a very attractive monitor at the price of $330. I'd only get one of these, and then eventually upgrade to another monitor later as this is at the very upper range of my budget for a monitor.

Just wondering what your guys think of a mid-range 22"-24" LCD monitor for really, just 'every day use'.

does the new mac mini have dual monitor outputs? i thought i read somewhere that it has a dvi and a displayport but im not sure

if you can find a 24" 1900x1200 monitor in your price range, do it, its well worth it, it made my life easier for just everyday use!

I has one mini-dvi and one display port. I did a little bit of research, and the Mini supports dual monitors, one connected via the mini-dvi port the other connected via display port.

I don't think I would recommend the Hanns-G, for that it is a large screen that has some problems, such as the inverter getting too hot, despite the fact that it gives you the biggest screen size to price ratio. The screen used on Hanns-G isn't particularly good too.

Well if NEC releases their 23" IPS in the US and LG releases their 22 and 24" e-IPS panels, then you are looking at some high quality competition for Dell's hot and often backordered 22" e-IPS. If you can wait, I'd wait a bit and you'll have some quality competition. If money's not an object you can just buy apple's ips 23" cinemadisplay.

As far as Apple goes, I can't justify spending $800 on an LCD monitor. Like I said, I'm thinking of roughly $200 for a 22" or 24" monitor. As far as e-IPS monitors go, they tend to be at the upper range of what I'm willing to pay. From what I've seen close $350 or $400 for a quality e-IPS. I'm not sure I can justify spending this money on an e-IPS monitor when I'm only going to use it for web surfing, iCal, YouTube, ext.

Hopefully the competition will bring these monitors sub $300; I wouldn't have a problem buying them up, then.
