Man , i want to hear all you have to say about the overclock, thats if you are going to overclock.

Nice ram , hopefully have my supertalant next week.Very tight latency DDR800
 
I've got some cheap PQI Turbo DDR2 667 5-5-5-15 ram in there. And CPU-Z is showing the SPD programmed correctly. But its showing the timings are set at 3-5-5-15 ! And I even hit CTRL+F1 and went in to the advanced options to manually set it to 5-5-5-15.

Do you think CPU-Z is showing incorrect timings or is it the DS3, setting the wrong timings ? Maybe I should go change it to 4-5-5-15 and see what happens. Anyone? Anyone? Beuler, Beuler?
 
The DS3 does that. It defaults RAM to CAS 3. This'll probably be solved in a future BIOS update.
 
well, I think thats whats keeping me from overclocking worth a shit, then I guess I should be glad it even boots since my ram is only rated for 5-5-5-15 @ 667!!

Wrong. CPU-Z displays improperly.

Update to an F4 version of the BIOS. It will show up correctly. It is not running at CAS 3.

COOL, are you sure? I tried CAS 6 just to see what happens.... DON'T DO IT! boot, repeated beeps, restart, repeated beeps, restart.... (etc)

had to do a Clear CMOS to get it to stop!! First and hopefully only time I have to do that... it was a major pain in the ass since SOME GENIUS put the Clear CMOS right where a videocard HSF would be. Especially bad if you have a double high card like mine! :mad:

Well my GSkill ZX is on the way back to GSKill via 2 day from FedX. It didn't like running at DDR2-800 no matter what I did. I even gave it 2.4V. It was advertised as 2.0 to 2.1v even at 533, this RAM wouldn't boot with no less than 2.2v, that's crazy!

I know folks using this RAM on i975s and that's the only reason I bought it.
