I was at a friends xmas party taking some pictures. I then wanted my friend to get a picture of me and my gf so I handed him the camera. He got a hold of it and I let go but then the string handle thing got caught on my pinky and :(, it fell. The LCD turns on, everything works but thing is, it fell while it was open. The lense was pushed in diagonally and its jammed right there. You can hear the motor turning but nothing budges. Anyone know how to fix this or how much it would cost to fix?

Sony DSC-P9

Thank you!

My parents were in Italy and they asked a local to take their picture. Sounds like exactly the same thing happened to them. It fell while open and landed lens down, pushing the lens in there and resulting in some excellent grinding action. They recently got it fixed at a cost of $170 CDN when all was said and done. Keep in mind, they took it directly to the Canon repair center, which is in Calgary where they live for Western Canada. Sony? Who knows. Double it? :(

Ugh.

This is why I MAKE anyone who takes my camera put the wrist strap around their hand before I let go, likewise for a neck/shoulderstrap.

Good luck with the camera.
