Just wondering about sucesses/caveats of drilling a 5mm hole in the acrylic top of my TDXs to put an LED in. Tips?
 
don't go too deep. make sure you have enough material between the outside and the water. go slow, lubricate the bit, don't force it. let the weight of the drill do the pushing (unless using a drill press) use a drill press if possible, so you can set the depth of the hole. measure at least 3 times. better too shallow than too deep. be careful. have fun.

that should cover it. you can order replacement tops (IIRC) from dangerden if one breaks, and you can probably (not sure on this) ask them to drill holes for you if you do screw one up.
 
I would order a replacement, and drill into the replacement. That way your system will still run fine if you crack the original cover.
 
Thanks for the tips. As for lubrication while drilling, what would you suggest?
I'm not overly worried about having a down machine if it cracks; I'm doing two blocks so I'll just fly single for a while if one breaks!
 
water would be fine for a lubricator if you get someone to pour a little on every now and then while drilling
