DigiTimes, citing industry sources, say that some DRAM manufactures are starting to cut production in order to reduce their losses from fast falling prices.

The makers also hope that the reduction in production will help DRAM return to a supply-demand balance in the third quarter, the sources added. The sources indicated that although DRAM prices have shown signs of stabilizing after falling fast over the past few months, makers still face heavy losses from the memory segment.

Hahahaha.. I was ridding the fence for the last few days on buying another stick, and last night after 13 hours of work I decided to go ahead.

1 gb DDR2 533 : $36.00 (free shipping)

Funny enough, when I bought it last night it was 37.00 - those rats took it down a dollar after my order!

It's amazing that November or so when I bought my other stick of ram it was damn near 130 - 140.

Dual channel fun, here I come!

I KNEW this was going to happen, sooner than later. Buy it up while it's cheap folks. I've never horded RAM before, this could get interesting. :D

Maybe they should join a coalition and name themselves RAMPEC.

Just a thought.

Since they can sell at $30/GB, doesn't that just prove that they were artificially inflating the price to $100+ just a few months ago? HMMMmm Anyone else smell some crooks?

I know it is fun to get stuff at cost...but companies like to make profit, etc...a little R&D as well. There is no crook here other than our greed for everything cheap at the expense of everything else. I mean...do you go to McDonalds and go "crook" for the fact that it only cost them a frew pennies to make your $2 burger?

When everyone gets to the point they are gasping to make a buck...usually the worst thing happens, companies merge and prices go up. This time I guess they agreed to just slow down production instead of merging...overall, better for us in the long run.

Yeah, I've been worrying about prices going back up before I upgraded to Barcelona.
I ordered some ddr2 and now I'm going to sit on it until I build in the Fall.

Perhaps I should get another 2 gigs of RAM before the prices start to skyrocket...again.

I file memory makers under the same category as I file Oil companies.

And I supposed they're all going to independently decide at the same time to cut production to artificially inflate prices? Collusion is illegal.
