I see the dp port 2.0 will come in late 2020

https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/displayport-2-everything-you-need-to-know/

And i was wondering about my current 2080 rtx ti card that uses 1.4 dp.
with my pg27uq

Would i need a new gfx card with new ports and new monitor since pg27uq is 1.4 port also
or would there be adapters or something ?

From the link you provided
Connectors new and old

The traditional DisplayPort connector will still be used for new DisplayPort 2.0 connections and it will retain backwards compatibility with all previous DisplayPort standards.

Existing cables will be able to get you up to 40gbps Only if you want to go higher (80gbps) will you need a new active cable.

I'm guessing it will use the same USB-C connector as Thunderbolt 3 Active cable. Why complicate life?

I would expect that by the time this becomes ubiquitous, mass-producing active TB3 cables will drop the price in half. And you really can keep most PC users happy on passive (4k 10-bit 144hz 4:4:4 is possible on passive cable)

Displayport 2.0 isnt out yet, you said that in the first post.
No devices can support it because it isnt out yet.

Why would a new hardware standard emerging affect the hardware you currently use?
It will have no effect, it will continue to work exactly as it is now.

No, your monitor and card are only DP 1.4 and will only ever be DP 1.4. So yes, to take advantage of DP 2.0 you'd need a new card and new monitor.

Umm... I don't think it works that way.

Right, they only added it to Pascal as a firmware update because the DP 1.4 standard released on the same month as the GTX 1080 did (the hardware was based on a draft DP 1.4 standard).

They released the card with only DP 1.2 enabled. It took a bit before They had firmware for DP 1.4 ready, so they waited until it was certified and bug tested.

You can't expect to upgrade Turning the same way; they released Turning hardware TEN MONTHs before the DP 2,0 announcement. And compared to DP 2.0, DP 1.4 was a relatively minor update.
