Downsizing my case to be small as possible

hey guys! new here :)

anyways i hope this is the right place, but i have this spare computer with a huge tower and I want to downsize it small as possible, and affordable price (around $50 usd).

I have a Abit SG-72 motherboard, a few full size PCI cards and a agp gfx card. I would like to downgrade it to a smallest case possible, its just a spare pc really so not too hot on how the case looks.

It has 1 CDRW drive, 1 HDD and all the other innards.

Anyone here recommend me a case to do this?
 
That case looks big and expensive. Whats wrong with a Qpack/Microfly? (better price availability)
They make 90 degree PCI and PCIX adaptors that are flexable or solid to keep stuff low profile.

I dont really care that much on how it looks, as long as its small, affordable and quiet; I am happy.

I liked your first choice better. The other 2 have very poor cooling (also need lo profile PCI cards too)
 
Short of getting a Shuttle, this is one of the smallest cases you can get:

That's what I would get if I was gonna make a spare pc with 'nothing fancy' inside and not much cooling needed and already had the matx mobo. Only downside is the proprietary PSU, but it's beefier than those two cases from directron and 80 plus certified.

They're cool little cases, and they even have room for a 120mm fan in the back.
 
I've got the case from an old HP mATX form factor that I'd get rid of cheap if you're interested.

As to how to make a full PCI fit smaller, if it's just the bracket that screws to the back of the case, those usually can be taken off. Keep in mind that you won't have anything holding the card in the slot other than friction, but otherwise it's fine to do that. There are also PCI ribbon risers and 90 degree risers and other toys around the net. Expect to pay for them though.
 
get a qpack/microfly. for an matx setup, they are as practical as you can get. room for a 120mm fan, adequate room for drives, and the ability to use a full sized psu.
 
Considering that a uATX motherboard is 9.6" high and a full-size PSU is another 3.25" tall, you'll have a bit of trouble finding a case that's as small as you want--at least in the vertical direction.

Depth is also a bit of a problem. Again, any uATX case is going to be made to accommodate a full uATX motherboard, which can be up to 9.6" long. Add on to that the 1/2" or so between the edge of the motherboard and the furthest point of the connectors (VGA, DVI, serial, parallel, etc), then add on to that the length of the boot on some of your cables (video especially), and you're getting really close to that 12" already, without allowing any room for the thickness of the front panel.

You might consider making your own case, I guess. I just built a case for an old uATX system out of 1/2" MDF. Super cheap, super easy to work, and you can get exactly what you want.
