Doom 3 cut out....

I'm was thinking about cutting the Doom 3 logo into the side of my case, but then thought that might be to bland, so I came up with this idea, that anyone can use if they want. I didn't light the "plainness" of the Doom 3 logo, and this is what came from thier website.
I took the original pic from a screencap from www.doom3.com
Since then I modified it to get the lines so that I could cut them into my case (as well as a good outline of the designs surrounding the main circle). I am not very good with paint shop pro, but I just wanted to find out the corners and the full design of the "symbol" I think with a compass and some good measuring this could be done, but not easily.

Anyway on with the show...

You can really see the symbols in the last pic, maybe it would be to hard to cut them out in thier present location, but placing them somewhere on the case would be a must if it ever gets done (or started for that matter).
You can also see where the "Doom 3" started to fade into the pic (top left corner), I had to reload the Flash site a bunch of times to get it to where the symbols got into thier place, but the "Doom 3" didn't show up.
 
dude....just do a goat of mendez...the full baphomet thing.......although it IS technically satanic...so is what your doing there.....just want you to know heavily religous people might freak out over your case.... :D and if you wanna see sometihng even more satanic than that and looks alot cooler google the word "baphomet" the goats head one......black on a grey case would look fuckin TIGHT.......ive wanted to do it for awhile but my parents are heavily religious and i still live with them :(

there was a guy around here that did a kick ass half life 2 theamed case, that may give you an idea for the painting on the metal peaces, it may be similar. it looks like it would be good, but you would have to take your time cutting all that out, and then you would have to glue it down to a peace of plexi so it doesnt bend or snap off, but good luck have fun, keep us uptodate

I dont know man...ever seen the movie "the first power" or probably every other demonic horror movie out there. I second xSyzygy666x in the satanicness of the symbol.
That circle and star pattern...your summoning demons onto your computer. lol

Have fun with the cutting tool though. Are you gonna paint your case black and us red LEDs.
Id be scarred to enter your room.
 
my case is a Lian-Li PC-78B (B for Black) I really wonder if I could get or make a cirgle guide (its really 2 outer cicles, 4 lines) but the cutting would be torture. I can get any color LED's, but if I do decide to do this I might buy a Chaintech MoBo (MoBo and Graphics) simply because thier good and thier black.

I think I'm a little confused as to what you're actually going to cut out...are you just basically going to follow the lines and remove them, or leave the lines and cut away everything else?

I guess what I mean is this...Is the white part in the pic going to be the case or the window? Either way, you've got a good bit of work on your hands. Work that shit. Scaring religious zealots is always cool ;)
 
mask off the panel and use a compass to draw the circles on the tape. this will giev you a good guide to cut along. Your pics dont show up for me, just red x's
 
If I do it, thats the plan, but I will have to change some things so I dont have a bunch of free floating parts, I would make it so the littlest joints still make it a solid panel (read: it would be cut out but still be connected, exept for the parts that are impossibel, like the inside of the small circle).

As for the Red X's....

yeah tape the hell out of your case and draw it all out, or better yet, print it out, and slap it on the tape if you can, I would forget the outer rings, just cut out the triangles, and what not, so the lines are your positive (the meatal) and eveything elce will be plexi, if your realyinto it look to see if you can get your plexi tinted red, or try to get red glass maybe.

and dont worry no matter what some people posed here, i for one do not belever that having that on your case is going to cause deamons to eat your soul (but hell my SN is BLsibub666, its written in red lights on my case, and there is a pentagram cut out of my bezle as a fan grill for a red led fan) (note people only get pissy about religion being ofensive when its something "evil" no one ever thinks that their trying to save your soul and converting you to the god of abriham could ever be offensive, just a side note)
 
Okay I cant figure out how to do this (completely) but here are two rough mock-ups of how it should look.

This is the cut out, everything black is the case, and the white is the cut out, each line, will acutally be about a .cm wide. So basically each line has to be cut out twice (if I just cut a single line, no light would get through. Doing this would make it so I have to attach the "floating peices" to the plexi (or real glass).

Again I whipped this up in Paint, and it is not correct measurements.

And this is the look with red lighting behind (I took one of the earlier pics and blurred out the middle lines, way too much cutting involved to do that). Oh, and minus the outer ring.

Please no religous or anti religous comments, this is a design from a Video Game (although it has real world meaning), and the final mod will reflect the game MUCH MORE, this is just one cut out in a case, that if done, will be heavily modded.

PS. Biggest problem, there are no good choices in pics, as this game is not out in the public yet. I can only use clips from press pics. If I do this I will probably wait until the game is out for a while and I can see what the "main concept" of the game is. I.E. Half life is all about radiation, and its easier to make things to reflect that.
 
Man, does that look like it's going to be a pain in the ass or what? I would suggest either getting it etched or maybe making it a transparentcy.

Technically the upright pentagram is a multi religious (including christian) symbol representing the wounds of christ among other things. The satanic variant would be an inverted pentagram or "sigil of baphomet" So you can tell your parents it's all good ;)

Okay on with the show, (I hate posting this and getting hopes up, but I may be getting out of my league).

How about this for a front bezel. I could stealth the drives, and cut this in (with some super thin plexi behind to hold it together)
But how would I get good red lighting behind, some LED's?

I would also probably have to rewire the buttons that open the drives (only 2 drives) But that would just give me one more thing to mod.
I know someone rewired the open buttons, anyone have the link so I can see how hard that would be?
 
Has anyone used this and how good does it work (how clean of an edge will it make.)

It goes up to 16" witch makes it seem as thought it was made exactly for a mid tower case.

I personally like the first pic. Looks "aged" and adds a little something that the "cleaned" up pic does. I think it fits more with the Doom theme than the cleaned up verison.

just my opinion though....
 
I completely argee, but I was originally just trying to figure out how to cut it into the case. I would have to touch up the entire case with little things to make it really worth it. Only problem now is "what are the little things that make this game great" wont know until it comes out.

you could probably re-create the look with Bondo or something similar and some paint of course. Unless of course you cut it out, then sand the paint off, put a light coat of your choice color, and then dip it in a saltwater mixture a couple times a day for about a month and store it in a damp room/area (sauna?? :)) ). That should produce some nice rust results.
 
seems like to me it'd turn out better if it was an etch or some kind of lights configuration.

how you'll cut that into metal i'm very interested in seeing.

Anyway, I think I might build my current project (the one I just started on) and grab a cheap $30 beige box, and work on that, rather than screw up my $90 Lian-Li.

I could then switch the internals over.
If that the case, I might have to come up with something to do to my present case.

i wanted it inverted....with the goat head in it....and i havent even asked me parents i just know theyd freak out...and frankly...im lazy...it would take too much energy to fight over it.......satanic and evil things interest me....... anyway i still think he should do the "sigil of the baphomet" or whatever....its a pretty awesome design,would reflect doom3 better,and has some really cool meaning in the "real world"

ps. i dont like black metal because its evil or whatever ignorant people want to label it....i like it because of the extreme amount of talent by most of the bands....

Nothing wrong with that, evil is sexy, thats why villians in movies are more interesting characters than the heros usually. Want a good listen, check out Mephiskaphelese, they're a satanic ska band, pretty funny stuff.

Oh Qtip42, that is entirely too bad ass.
 
I like the idea of using a transparency or etching plexy/glass because I think that will give you more contol over the final product....you would have to be careful about your main cut but paitence is your friend there...just don't rush it...as for the dremel circle cutter I don't know how well that would work in metal...I have tried using the "routing" bit on my case and it jumped all over the place and had to finish up with a standard cutting wheel
 
I just had an idea (clap damn you). Make a case window on the side like everyone else, etch the glass with the design like said above, but then put a layer of limo tint over it and mask off the part of the image you don't want light to shine through on the back side (ie: everything but the image lines). Then paint the whole case a shiny black, fill with red neons. The effect would be something like a one way mirror. With the neons off you just see a straight up shiny black case, turn them on and the pentagram glows red through teh black side panel. Stylish by day, evil by night. Did I describe that well enough to visualize?
 
yeah those picks you loaded, if you cut all the wite out, then you will have many many free standing chunks of metal. if you could glue them down to the plexi it may look ok but you may not line up the line right and you would be screwed.

what you can do, is cut out the black, and leave the white, paint the case, cut the back out, and then tape up the case. then draw a circle around your cut, and pull up all the tape within that circle, and paint all of that red. so when you pull your tape off, you have

black, then red circle and lines, with plexi inbetween, and you can tint it, or put a red light behind it ( a combo of the two usualy work out nice)

the idea of just putting a big plexiglass window and then painting the window isnt a bad one. i took the top two 5 inch bays on my pc, put plexi in, taped off BLsibub and flaims painted it, pealed the tape off and put a 4 inch red ccfl behind it. so now when i turn it on, you can read BLsibub glowing in red coming out the front of my pc, just something you may want to look into,

if you want it to glow red, you can put in the window, and tint it red on the back side, and then on the back side, put a black tint, or paint where you dont want the light coming threw, so the light will only go threw where you want (the lines) and the rest should look like a glossy black, depending on the paint or tint. (let me know if that made any sence to you )
