I recently installed Doom 3 to see what my system would do with this game. Im not running with anything O/C'd right now, and I get artifacting on all the textures, white snow, which suggests memory. But this is the only game it does it in................Any suggestions or anyone else experience this same problem?

BTW-Im running a 9800 pro 256bit 128MB ATI brand
P4- 3.2ghz Prescott
Asus P4c800 Deluxe
2x512 Geil Ultra Platinum PC4400
200 GB Maxtor Diamondmax 9
Audigy 2 ZS 7.1
Zalman cs7000 AIU heatsink and fan.
Raidmax 420 watt PSU
4 80 mm case fans
54x Mitsumi cdrw
x6 Nu dvd burner

probably its the drivers not the memory, because it only happens in one game.
try catalyst 4.12, they are beta but they are fine in my rig or omega drivers, but thats subjective as each system is different.
good luck dude

Im running the omegas, whats really funny, in almost all my games I used to crash to desktop, but since SP2 I have been able to play BF1942, and all my other games with virtually no crashing now.

and doom3? is it still weird? and sp2 install was it prior to doom3 install or after?
ED

Well I havent tried since installing SP2, SP2 has actually made my system stop crashing to desktop in my games, so I may try to play it again and see what happens.

Well I would RMA the card if you can. Doom 3 is extremely clock frequency picky. I know I found that my overclock was no good while running D3 on my old 9800 Pro where it was not an issue with anything else (i.e. no artifacting). If you are artifacting at stock I would get a replacement and be done with it if everything else is good to go with your rig such as mb chipset drivers and the like.

Well, I dont really want to RMA again.... But this is the only game that it does this in, and I plan on upgrading soon enough to a X800xt soon enough.........

Carmack said Doom III is going to stress parts in the video card that were never activated or stressed before. So it looks like this is the "cheap" part in your video card. Get your RMA before your warranty expires.

It sucks but I think I will RMA it, even though this is the only game it does it in......But my stability issues have all dissapeared since I installed SP2.

*Update*

Earlier this evening, I decided to install the new Omega drivers based off of the Cat 4.12 beta. Installed them as per instructions. Then I got to play the boot loop game, so after uninstalling the drivers off my system I decided to just get the Cat 4.11's off of the ATI site. Voila! No artifacting...... Omega1 was right from the get go, lets just see what my stability is like in some of my other games again is going to be like.

question is, do you play more 3dmark or games? ;)

and being a semi benchmark whore 500pts in 3dm2k1 is EASILY made up with simple tweaks and things :p
