Does "recommended resolution" for displays matter?

I'm looking at a 27-32'' LCD that supports 720p for my 360, but mostly all of them have a 1366 x 768 recommended resolution. One or two of them have a 1280x720 resolution, but all the ones I'm looking at are 720p. Will any of those TVs display 720p the same or will the recommended resolution come into play? Thanks.

The "recommended resolution" is what is also called the "native resolution" and yes it does make a difference. You can't go higher than native but you can go lower while taking a hit on image quality....if the monitor has internal scaling or you use your videocard drivers then you can use 1:1 ratio which will only use the pixels necessary without stretching.

All lcd's perform much better at their reccomended resolution. You can force a monitor to use other resolutions but there is often problems such as tearing, ghosting etc.

What about on a straight TV. Will 720p look better on a 1280x720 native than 1366x768?

1366x768 is their 720p, as everything is scaled to that res internally on those lcds. You arent going to get 1280x720out of it, stop worrying about it.

And no, you wont notice.
