Does Hitachi make good drives?

I was always afraid of IBM's "Deathstars" but how about these new Hitachis?

I am considering this: Hitachi 80GB 7200RPM IDE Hard Drive Model HDS722580VLAT20 because it has a lower seek time than the Seagates (which I love).

More importantly is sound and heat output/resistance... this will be in an mATX SFF case...

Hitachi makes some of the quietest hard drives, though there is periodically a "meowing" sound that emits from the drives. The Hitachis run warm just like any modern drive. You won't need additional cooling just for the drives, even in the tight confines of an "SFF" case.
