Does anything support the Intel G645?

Im at my wits end with this processor. Sadly its all I have right now to make a WHS 2011 computer.

Bought a Super Micro Board last weekend.

Was told it should handle it no problems. Sadly this is a no go, plus I needed HDMI so not a huge loss.

Move onto a MSI B75MA-E33 board as it saved me enough money to get a real raid card.

Looked at the specs, looks at the compatible list and put it all together and notta. Just boots up for 5-6 seconds then shuts down no post screen. Being told it must have a old bios or something, but shows the oldies bios supporting this CPU, Thus is the main reason I got this guy.

Is this processor cursed with 0 support?

Maybe there's some other problem. The CPU should work on many different desktop boards, especially if the BIOS lists it in compatibility. On thing you can try is to unplug the motherboard, clear CMOS, and try powering it on again. G645 support does show as supported since BIOS version 1.0, unsurprising because it's just the Sandy Bridge-M-2 core used by Core i3-2xxx (6EU version) processors with some features disabled.

New board, new memory, new power supply. After looking at the board revision I have the oldest one, but not even MSI can say for sure what that board shipped with in terms of bios. They told me to try another older 1155 processor as the g645 was Q2/3 2012 processor. If I had a spare one I would in a heart beat. Guess I could rip the 2600k out of my main rig, that's a pain due to the cooling device. Have to take the whole computer apart :/

Any suggestions on a matx intel boards that should support the g645 out of the box? All i need is 1 sata 6.0gb/s, 1 pci1x, onboard hdmi. USB 3.0 is a bonus but not needed.

Can you enter at least in the bios with the G645?... Can you try your G645 in another friends pc to discard any problema with your chip?...

wont boot with or without the g645. As for the friend route they have core 2's or 1156 based CPU's :/

Took my lunch break to the local microcenter and found none of the matx boards they sell handle the g645 from the start. All of them a bios update.

Have the wait for a new chip set to release? All these currently did not work out of the box without a bios update. H61, B75, Z68, H77, B75, Z77

Why would they need a bios update? The only reason you should have to update the bios for cpu compatibility would be if you were trying to use an Ivy Bridge CPU on a chipset designed for Sandy Bridge( H61, H67, or Z68) Your problem lies elsewhere.

The only other reason I can think of is that the Pentium G645 was released after the BIOS versions that shipped with even the Z77 and B75 motherboards came out. In fact, based on the Micro Center salesman's word of mouth the 7-series motherboards that store carries might as well have been pre-flashed with the very first released BIOS version for those particular models (which almost always predate the release of the G645).

uuhmm that could happens as example in later ivy bridge chip+z77 mobo as example.. but not in a sandy bridge chip as the G645 its.. and even the "super micro" xeon mobo support from release bios ivy bridge.. it should support sandy bridge... its a kinda weird issue the op have..

i can still thinking that the he should test their G645 on another working pc.. to discard any problem on the chip... and test another chip on their mobo...

Because of additional features being disabled on that chip, compared to others based on the same Die, there's a slight possibility you can get it to work if you can find a supported cpu to plug in long enough to enter the bios and turn off those additional features by hand where possible. My guess is the bios for those boards was released before this chip was introduced to market, the boards try to activate some of the disabled functions by default (being ignorant of the disabled ones on that cpu in question), and refuse to proceed with booting after it detects errors resulting from the disabled features not responding successfully.

Yeah that the reason i was asking if can enter in bios... But not even that... I really don't know what other thing can be...

thought I should update.

Bad memory (both sticks), bad mobo's (msi, super micro). Finely got the MSI to boot, but it seems one of the memory slots are also bad.

Can I have this bad of luck?

Seriously?... That kind of bad luck its not normal O.O... Mobo and rams damaged?.. O.O..

yeah bad luck indeed, have not even been able to boot up the raid card, or the (2) WD Reds... Gonna be a fun weekend.
