Does AA blur textures?

In farcry, I run it a 1600x1200 with 4x AF. I have textures and everything set to MAX. Now , when i turn on AA, the textures in the game seam to blur and not be as detailed. IS that normal for AA?
 
When I set mine up to 8x, they do that. I can see it mostly in text though. This was in UT2004 though too, and at 1024x768,
 
Except for items where they are really thin and the program is relying on that point being exactly on one pixel (ex. Text in a program and the solution to this is for game developers to use font textures with the characters being wider than 1 pixel), AA in general should help texture's be more "correct" by better sampling of the texels that are actually in that pixel. If it actually blurs and is not correcting texture aliasing (which is also of course what AF is supposed to do) then something is wrong with the AA algorithm (ex. quincux).

Yep he's right pretty much. Quincux in fact actually uses blurring techniques + 2 AA to make it look better. Instead it looks like shit but whatever :\. 4AA at 1600x1200 would probably get you blurryness. Probably normal. Post some screens :). Edge AA would probably blur textures more than anything or just the use of Quincux which of course you aren't using.
