DOCSIS 3 and knology?

I am thinking about switching from Mediacom to Knology here in Huntsville, AL.

The service I am currently paying for is advertised as 8Mb, but I get almost 12Mb.

Knology's base advertised speed is 12Mb and a couple dollars cheaper to boot.

Knology also has DOCSIS 3 - 25Mb service available for $15 more.

I am wondering what people are getting with a DOCSIS 3 modem when paying for the
12Mb service.

I would have to buy a Docsis 3 modem, but that isn't really an issue since my old SB5120 has been acting up a little as of late.
 
Well, I am going to go ahead and switch over. If nothing else, it will save a couple dollars every month as well as probably be at least a bit faster than what I currently have.

I'll report back when everything is switched over and working.
 
A few people in my neighborhood have had mediacom. Never really had issues. They give us what they advertise and more at times.
 
Yeah, I know I get more than I technically pay for with mediacom.. but they don't have DOCSIS 3 yet.. and have no timeframe when they are going to get it in my area.
