Do you remember your first oc?

My first OC was, a K6 266mhz to 300mhz. I am still using that PC. I currently have it set up and running SmoothWall. Still runs like a champ.

I have ordered everything in my sig. Will be here today!!!

A 300MHz G3 that I got up to 400MHz... the whole system ran WAY smoother afterwards. I increased the average FPS in Diablo 2 with maybe 50-80%... I moved a jumper, heh.

I overclocked a TRS-80 Color Computer Model 1 in 1981 from 0.89 MHz to 1.25 MHz and hacked the RAM from 16K to 32K (Bank Switched) This let you have 2 programs running at the same time which you could switch between. Not all that useful actually but interesting to get working. The best upgrade was from the included casette player storage to a 5.25 single sided floppy drive! 256x192 in 9 colors ruled back then LOL.

First was a P-150 to 200. Next was a PII-350 to 400. Next was a 366 Celery to 550, and on and on and on. I still have the first 3 sitting around, for old times sake.

Here are mine:

P233MMX -> 262MHz
PIII 600E -> 846MHz
Athlon 1GHz T'bird -> 1.44GHz
Athlon XP 2000+ -> 1.80GHz
Athlon XP 2500+ -> 2.30GHz
Pentium 4 3.0C -> TBD

Para

PIII 500 Katmai -> 513

Did this through Windows (running an intel SE440-BX2). Lol

well since you guys are such pro's wanna help me on oc'ing my shuttle?

Say I overclock my shuttle to 3.0 on stock cooling, what would I do to my ram to change it?

And would I notice a difference from 2.6 to 3.0? Would it be alright on stock cooling?

Call me the baby of this OCing thread but I began OCing about a year 1/2 ago with the AMD 2000+( when it first came out). Well got that baby up to 2.0ghz and that felt very good, so good that I seemed to have lost my virginity as well to this bitch, i really got her to swet;) LOL:D

My first real oc worth remembering was my agoia athlon 1.4ghz and got it up to 1.9 w/ air cooling. Stable at 50c load.

Mine was a P75 to Pen133 or my Celeron 366 pushed 667.

PII 300 to 336. When asking for help (ironically on Yahoo Chat Comp room) everyone was confused...cause "intel never made a PII 336." Once I figured out what I did, I went back to default...didn't try again until my celly 366 to 454

Pentium 75 to 100
K6-166 to 250 after about 6 months had to back it down to 200.
Celeron 366 to 550
Celeron 533a to 800
Athlon 1200 to 1400
Pentium 4 2.53 to 2.8

I had an Amiga 500 68000 cpu @ 7mhz. I added an adspeed piggybacked chip to the cpu with a toggle switch to bump it to 14mhz. weeeee also there was a jumper mod to move 512K of ram to chip ram(for video) which enabled higher resolutions...in 1990

Yes, I remember mine. It was a 486. My main system was a PII 333 and I was just messing with the 486. Well, I got carried away and lets just say I accidentally pushed about 3.3V to the CPU. It lasted about 45 seconds. I have no idea what it was running at, but it was running pretty damn quick for a 486 before it started to smoke.

Man, many of you guys started OCing since back in the day.

I just started a few months back. Still messing around with the same CPU (1.6A).

At first I OC'ed it from 1.6 to 1.8 with PC133 Ram.

Then I was able to get a new motherboard and some DDR Ram. Got it from 1.6 to 2.0

And just yesterday, I messed around a bit and finally got it stable from 1.6 to 2.2 with only a little bump in the VCore settings by .075. 600MHZ is not too bad for my first OCing CPU.

Once I get my Zalman 7000 and DDR400, I will be trying to OC more with this chip.

Lets see... I got a K6-2 350 or something like that, and I boosted it up quite a ways. I still have that board, so I'm gonna see what I can get it to do. ;)

I've OCed several chips. The K6-2, my 1900+ (horrible, Palomino), a smelleron 466, a Mobile Duron (1.0 to 1.2 ghz), and finally my 2500+ Barton, which is comfortable at a respectable 2.2 ghz right now. This chip will do 2.4 ghz, but I perfer stable for F@H. :)

I had a Cyrix 266+ with a 3dfx Bansshee that I was haveing trouble playing Half-Life with when there were too many marines to render, I had to upgrade. I begain reading some forums and found out about this awsome sure thing overclocker the Celeron 300A and this amazing overclockable abit board the Bh6. I got mine up to 464 no problem. My next overclock was a Celeron 900@1.2 and then the system in my sig. I also became a big fan of Abit motherboards after my first time.

My first OC was my GF2 MX. First CPU OC was a 1700+ to almost 2ghz and I thought it was the ****. Best OC was 245mhz 24/7 stable core clock on my Ti200. Nothing else was a good OC :(

my ist hack/oc was

a500 7mhz to 14 mhz.... involved unseating the processor and installing a processor daughtercard, then seating in a new chip....
the agnus hack was to increase chip mem from 512k to 1024... you needed to cut traces on the motherboard, and jump a couple pins.... ahhhhh the old days.

then a p66 running at 83, a p90 running at 120, 133 at 166, 200 at 233,

the 1st BIG OC i saw was a 300a running at 544. that blew me away...

then a 533 celly @ 850..... then i jumped to athlons, 1.2 @ 1.4,.... 1800+ running at 17something, and then a hop back to my current rig, which is a 2.4c running @ 3.2 stock cooled, just careful component selection and serious tweaking.

haha my first overclock was on my first computer, i got it for my birthday in either 98 or 99 for my 12th(98) or 13th(99) b-day i thought it was soo awesome because it was the first computer i owned, that i could put in MY room and do w/e I wanted to to it, it was a celly 333 mhz w/ 64mb of ram and intel graphics, which ran unreal tournament @640X480 pretty well lol, anyways i was really bored and i always saw that "del - system bios" or something like that so i went in there and saw all the options including the FSB and noticed i could increase it, i read in the manual that i could increase it so i did, i stepped it up a few notches, saved, and restarted and the startup screen reports my celly running @ 500 or so mhz and i was STOKED. I decided to boot up unreal tournament and noticed that my fps where higher so i was the happiest kid around, plus my 56k connected faster then all my friends, i was @ 46k or so and my friends would only connect at 33k or so, man those were the days! I remember bragging about how i hit 4.5K/b on a download using gozilla haha.... good times, good times/

My first OC is a computer I still have and use sometimes.

It was a 450MHz K6-2 from Compaq. On the original board, I managed to get the thing to 504Mhz, 2.2 -> 2.6v processor voltage.

It runs Linux now.

My first OC was a Pentium 133 up to 166. I think I changed a jumper on the mainboard to do it and that was it. I think the thing is still at my folks's house in the basement. (This was like 9-10 years ago) Memmm-o-rieeesss.

well...technically my first OC was putting a k6-2+ 500 mhz in a P55T2P4 that was "supposed" to only take up to 233 mhz...it was kickass. course I didnt run it with a HSF cause im dumb. chip still works today actually, just donated the mobo proc and ram in a system to someone...in its place I have a K6-2 500 mhz with the same board and 96 megs of ram as my server.

my first "official" OC was with a 800 mhz Athlon, socket A. I think i got it up to 900 mhz but I'm not sure...I didnt get big into overclocking till the 1700+'s came out. thats pretty recently actually, blah :D
