im a noob at this but im building a new pc here in about a week but with my tight budget i couldnt afford what i wanted.. so i got 2 sticks value ram for about 62$ for 512Mb. but i wanted kingston hyperX pc3200. and i want to try to overclock my 2.8c to like 3.2 or more.. is it a good idea?
 
the faster you can run your memory the higher you can oc. you should be ok with that ram to hit 3.2
 
P4 overclocking is at its best when you have fast memory, as the multiplier is always locked. It would be great to run your memory at the same clock as your FSB, but if not you could run a divider. You'll still be able to overclock, but nice memory really is worth paying for.
 
yeah quite simply, the faster the memory, especially the mem timings the better an overclock you can achieve.
 
My Kingston Value RAM has no problems with PC3700 speeds, if only my CPU could take that for more than a few minutes.
